Extra Curricular Activities are Fun at TLC on Green Oaks!

Extracurricular activities introduce even more fun and learning potential to your child. At TLC on Green Oaks, we believe that a diverse group of extracurricular options can be the supplemental activity that your child’s early development needs. Our diverse list of extra curricular activities goes far beyond other local daycares and preschools. To introduce your child to these activities, our school offers age-appropriate playgrounds and a gymnasium or an all-purpose room to accommodate all our extra-curricular activities.

Computers

Understanding technology from an early age provides plenty of benefits for your children. At TLC on Green Oaks, our computer rooms are equipped with new technology and learning games that will teach your child to be familiar with a computer. We monitor our facilities and ensure that your child is secure as they use the computer. Gaining computer skills at a young age improves your child’s preparation for future technology, and studies have shown that using a computer can benefit your child by:

  • Introducing educational skills
  • Improving problem-solving skills
  • Improving long-term memory and manual dexterity
  • Teaching children spatial and logical skills
  • Stimulating language comprehension
  • Boosting self-esteem and confidence

Our team of educators help your child find a balance between technology and traditional educational lessons. We believe that adding computer time to your child’s early development will ensure that they are prepared for a technologically-savvy world when they grow up.

Baby Signing Time

Learning a second language can be greatly beneficial to a child’s development, and unlike other local daycares and preschools, we include this important step into your child’s education from an early age. As such, we believe that Baby Signing Time is a great way to both expand your child’s communication skills as well as develop motor functions. Baby Signing Time sets your baby’s day to music with signs, songs, animation, and real signing babies for every day events like playtime, getting dressed, going places, getting ready for bed, manners, and more. Baby Signing Time teaches American Sign Language and makes it easy for parents and children to learn sign language.

Playgrounds

Exercise and physical activity are key to a child’s development, and to encourage their development, we often incorporate time on our age-appropriate playgrounds. Our numerous playgrounds allow your child to explore the world around them and interact with various equipment to foster a love for physical activity. Children will enjoy jungle gyms, sand boxes, and even a three-foot pool. Unstructured, creative, physical play lets children burn calories and develop muscles. In free play, children choose the games, make the rules, learn to negotiate and release stress, as well as use their imagination.

Town Square

A fun, indoor play area, the Town Square allows your child to explore the heights of their imagination! The Square includes banks, cafes, gas stations, and much more, providing a wonderful setting for creativity, imagination, and make-believe fun. Play can help lay a foundation for learning the skills children need for social interactions. The Town Square encourages children to pretend, interact with each other and serves as an assembly space.

Wading Pool

Making the most use of the wonderful weather we experience in Arlington, our team regularly takes children out to our wading pool in the summer months. We start by introducing toddlers to the water on Splash Days, while older children can enjoy regular pool time or a fun trip down our slides. Like other local daycares and preschools, TLC on Green Oaks understands the importance of physical activity for children. Children love interacting with the water, but we also take this time to educate children on water safety and develop swimming skills. Swimming can build a child’s confidence, reduce their fear of water, help with anxiety problems, and strengthen developing muscles. Just a little bit of swimming can help your child achieve a wide range of skills that they might not otherwise gain access to until later in life!

The best education should include extracurricular activities, which is why we encourage your child to supplement their early development with these fun activities. We believe that a well-balanced environment for your child gives your child their best start possible. From our age-appropriate playgrounds and gymnasium to our all-purpose room to accommodate all our extra-curricular activities, children will love exploring their creativity and expressing themselves through these engaging extracurricular activities.
